I consider myself a mixture of all of those - yes my walls were adorned with my children's scrawls when they were young but I also found room for a few select originals and limited edition abstract paintings as well as a few prints.
Art is, or should be, a fundamental part of the interior design in any home. It should be the basis on which you decorate a home and truly make it your own. I have seen far too many homes with uninspiring art chosen because it matched the sofa or wall colours (please don't do that)
Trust your instincts and buy what you love - my latest purchase (albeit a print) is a huge canvas of Modigliani's "The Jewess" for our large stairwell - looks fabulous.
